Tournament FAQ
If registration is full, is there a waitlist for teams that would like to play?
Absolutely! We always establish a waitlist just in case teams decide not to play or we are able to secure more grounds in order to add more games. We also have a mailing list so that teams that may not have seen the announcement can be notified when the registration opens up for future tournaments.
Where can I find the fee deadline?
The fee deadline is listed on the tournament page under the Registration information.
What happens if our team does not pay the registration fee before the fee deadline?
Teams that do not pay the registration fee by the noted deadline will be removed from the tournament to make room for a waitlisted teams.
How can our team pay the registration fee?
There are a few options to pay the fee, eTransfer is preferred and can be sent to WicketSportsCanada@gmail.com. We also accept cash.
Will there be a Captains Meeting before the tournament?
Yes, a Captains Meeting will be held prior to all Wicket Sports Canada tournaments. Information can be found under the tournament schedule.
How are disciplinary issues handled during the tournament?
Wicket Sports Canada has a zero tolerance policy for any acts of aggression, violence, misconduct, acts towards the umpires or any other acts that could be considered inappropriate on and off the field during the tournament. Players that engage in such behavior will be immediately removed from the tournament and will NOT be allowed to continue, no exceptions will be made. In cases where physical violence has occurred, the local authorities will be brought in to assist. Cricket is a gentleman’s game, we are all here to have fun and we expect players to treat each other and our official’s with respect.
What are the T20 Playing Conditions?
Wicket Sports Canada T20 Match Conditions
- Twenty (20) overs per innings, to be finished in 80 minutes.
- For the team fielding first, every four (4) minutes in excess of the allowed 80 minutes to complete the innings will result in that team having one (1) over deducted from their batting innings.
- For the team fielding second, every four (4) minutes in excess of the allowed 80 minutes to complete the innings will result in a ten (10) run penalty awarded to the batting team
- An incoming batsman has 90 seconds after a dismissal to arrive at the crease.
- The innings break will be no longer than ten (10) minutes.
- No drinks break will be taken during the innings.
- Bowlers are restricted to a maximum of one-fifth of the total overs (e.g. four (4) overs in a 20-over innings).
- No Ball: any foot violation resulting in a No Ball will entitle the batsman to a Free Hit on the following ball. Field settings may not be changed for the Free Hit delivery. Any illegal delivery (a Wide Ball or any No Ball) on a Free Hit will result in the following delivery also being a Free Hit. For purposes of dismissing a batsman, a Free Hit is to be treated as a No Ball – e.g. can not be bowled, caught, lbw, etc., but can be run out.
- Wide Ball: Weekend League rule applies; one (1) run awarded to batting team and ball not to count as one of the over.
- A completed match shall require a minimum of five (5) overs bowled per innings.
- In case of tie or incomplete game, a Super Over will determine a winner:
- A maximum of three (3) nominated batsmen from either team will face an over of six (6) legal deliveries from one (1) bowler of the opposing team.
- The team scoring the higher number of runs from their Super Over will be awarded a win for the match.
- If scores from the Super Over are tied, the win will be awarded by count-back as follows:
- to the team having scored the higher combined number of boundaries during their two completed batting innings;
- to the team having scored the higher number of boundaries during only their regular batting innings;
- to the team having scored the most runs from the last ball of their respective batting innings, counting back as far from the last ball of the Super Over as is necessary to determine a winner.
- All other VDCA Division I: Weekend League rules apply.
Power Play rules:
- Infringement of any fielding restriction will cause the square leg umpire to call and signal “No Ball”.
- There will be only one, mandatory block of Power Play Overs (see table below)

- A maximum of two (2) fielders shall be permitted outside this fielding restriction area during the Power Play Overs at the instant of delivery. No close catchers are required in Power Play Overs.
- During the non-Power Play Overs, no more than five (5) fielders shall be permitted outside the fielding restriction area referred.
- At the instant of delivery, there may not be more than five (5) fielders on the leg side during non-Power Play Overs
